Details of his family background and schooling are not publicly documented, which is typical for a domestic-league footballer whose public profile rests almost entirely on his performances on the pitch. What is certain is that he came through the Singapore football pathway at a young age and was trusted with senior football while still a teenager, a sign of the coaching staff’s faith in his reading of the game and his composure under pressure.
As a defender, Vestering plays on the right side of the back line and favours his right foot, a combination that has made him a reliable option at both centre-back and full-back. He is not a headline-grabbing player: his value lies in positioning, tackling and consistency rather than goals or spectacular assists. That reliability is precisely why Hougang United have kept him at the heart of their plans for the better part of a decade.

His first spell at the club ended in July 2020, with 37 league appearances and two goals to his name.
He returned to Hougang United in June 2022, and the homecoming quickly became the most successful period of his career. That season he played eight league matches as Hougang lifted the Singapore Cup, the club’s first major trophy and the defining achievement of Vestering’s career so far. He also featured in the AFC Cup, gaining rare continental experience for a Singapore domestic player.
Since his return, Vestering has been a near ever-present. He made 15 league appearances with a goal in 2023, then 24 appearances with a goal and an assist in the 2024–25 season, adding further Singapore Cup outings and matches in the AFC Champions League Two. Across both spells he has now passed 120 senior appearances for Hougang in all competitions, with four league goals, a record of durability that few of his contemporaries can match.
His statistical profile underlines his defensive role. In a representative recent match sample, he recorded strong tackling and interception numbers, won the majority of his duels, and kept his disciplinary record clean with no red cards. Coaches value him precisely because he rarely makes the highlight reels: he wins his duels, keeps his shape, and lets the attackers take the glory.
